Fennel Seeds
Fennel seed, also known as Saunf, is a fragrant and flavorful herb that comes from a shrub. The seeds have a subtly pleasant and refreshing flavour and are pale greenish in colour. Although the fennel plant is thought to have originated in the Mediterranean, India is currently one of the leading exporters of this herb. It's high in fibre, vitamins, and minerals, among other things.
Fennel seeds, saunf, are well-known in India, where they are often used as a mouth freshener and digestive help after meals. Raw saunf is preferred by some, whereas roasted and salted saunf is preferred by others.
Saunf's fibre increases bulk and aids with easy bowel motions. Seniors who suffer from constipation might chew on fennel seeds after meals or drink Fennel Tea to reduce their distress.
